Protect ‘Behind The Scenes’ From Piracy — Funke Akindele Appeals to Fans

Award-winning Nollywood filmmaker and actress, Funke Akindele, has called on her fans to help protect her latest movie, Behind The Scenes, by refraining from recording or sharing clips from the film online.

Akindele stressed that piracy—whether direct or indirect—poses a serious threat to the success of the movie and undermines the hard work of everyone involved in its production. She urged fans to support the film by respecting cinema rules and spreading awareness against illegal recording.

Behind The Scenes, which premiered in cinemas on December 12, explores the emotional struggles, sacrifices, and hidden realities that accompany success and fame.

In a message shared with her fans, the filmmaker clarified that while moviegoers are free to take photos at promotional banners and share reviews online, recording scenes inside the cinema is strictly prohibited.

“Say no to direct and indirect piracy,” Akindele wrote. “We’re super excited that Behind The Scenes is showing in cinemas, but please do not record or post any part of the movie. Even short clips count as piracy.”

She further appealed to fans to share the message with friends and family, adding that protecting the film is a way of supporting the creative efforts behind the project.

The movie, which Akindele revealed was inspired by a divine message, features a star-studded cast including Tobi Bakre, Iyabo Ojo, Scarlet Gomez, and Ini Dima-Okojie.
