Reality TV star Queen Mercy has addressed the online criticism surrounding her recent marriage breakdown with David Oyekanmi, rejecting claims that she is a prostitute and expressing frustration over false rumours.
In a statement shared on Instagram, the former beauty queen questioned how she could be labelled in such a way for events that occurred before she became publicly known.
Mercy also dismissed accusations that she flaunted her marriage to spite her baby daddy, Lord Lamba, explaining that her posts were simply expressions of joy about her union, with no ulterior motives.
She wrote:
“So where exactly did your ‘USA people’ see me and decide I was a prostitute????? I know my family will be upset that I’m responding. I’m sorry, family.”
Addressing her critics further, Mercy said:
“I heard someone saying I was posting to pepper my baby daddy. Did you ever see me post my baby daddy??? When I posted my marriage, I was excited, like every other bride. I posted with no bad intentions, contrary to what people are claiming now.”
She also refuted claims about her personal life and career choices:
“Some said the Queen isn’t ready for marriage, some said the kind of movies I act in isn’t for a married woman… And I can tell you all, I’ve never acted in a deep kissing role or an over-romantic scene. Dancing makes me happy, so twerking doesn’t make me a bad person.”
Queen Mercy concluded with a firm message of self-empowerment:
“Being a ‘good girl’ didn’t pay. F*ck love. I’m Queen. I’m Gemini. I talk my truth without fear of anyone. I don’t have time to fake it or pretend.”
Through her response, Queen Mercy is standing her ground, asserting her identity, and rejecting the judgment of others as she navigates her personal and public life.
