Red Fort Blast Probe Focuses on Parking Lot Log and Missing Doctors

Investigators probing the high-intensity car blast near the Red Fort, which tragically killed 13 people on November 10, are currently focusing their efforts on analyzing the vehicle log and questioning witnesses from the Sunehri Masjid parking area where the exploded Hyundai i20 remained for approximately three hours. Simultaneously, the probe has zeroed in on the network of doctors linked to Al Falah University in Haryana, with reports indicating several are now untraceable.

The investigation into the incident, which the Government of India formally declared a terrorist attack, is being handled jointly by the National Investigation Agency (NIA), which has taken over the initial FIR under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), and the Delhi Police Special Cell, which has registered a separate FIR to investigate the larger criminal conspiracy.

Parking Lot Analysis: Searching for the Accomplice

The primary objective of analyzing the parking log is to determine whether the explosives were planted inside the Haryana-registered HR-26 Hyundai i20 while it was stationary at the Sunehri Masjid parking lot.

  • Detailed Log: Police have prepared a comprehensive log of every vehicle that entered and exited the parking area during the three hours the white i20 was parked there (CCTV footage indicates the car was parked from approximately 3:19 PM to 6:22 PM). The log includes registration numbers, entry/exit timings, and ownership details.
  • Witness Questioning: Drivers and owners of dozens of vehicles parked near the i20 are being traced and questioned. Investigators are verifying whether they saw the driver, identified by DNA as Dr. Umar Nabi, whether anyone accompanied him, or if anyone was seen entering or exiting the vehicle.
  • Photo Identification: Investigators are showing photographs of the deceased suspected bomber, Dr. Umar Nabi, to drivers and vehicle owners to ascertain if he interacted with any other person during his stay at the parking facility.
  • Vehicle Inspection: A Delhi Police team and a bomb detection squad are inspecting all vehicles that were present at the spot at the time of the blast before clearing them for release to their owners.

The Missing ‘White-Collar Terror Module’ Doctors

The investigation continues to unravel a ‘white-collar terror module’ centered around medical professionals, many of whom were associated with Al Falah University in Faridabad, Haryana.

  • Missing Doctors: Officials are probing whether the arrested doctor, Dr. Muzammil Ganaie, had regular contact with a wider network. Sources reveal that approximately 15 doctors known to be in touch with Ganaie have become untraceable since the probe intensified.
  • Evidence of Contact: Call Detail Records (CDR) indicate multiple conversations between Dr. Muzammil Ganaie and these missing doctors. When investigative teams attempted to contact them, their phones were switched off, and teams sent to Al Falah University found many of the individuals absent from the campus.
  • Background: Dr. Muzammil Ganaie was arrested after a massive cache of 2,900 kg of explosive material was recovered from rooms rented under his name in Faridabad, just hours before the Red Fort blast. The deceased driver of the exploded car, Dr. Umar Nabi, was also a doctor from Pulwama who worked at Al Falah University. Investigators believe Umar may have detonated the bomb in panic after learning of the raids and the arrest of his associates.

Agencies are now actively probing the role of these missing doctors in planning or facilitating the alleged terror module. The discovery of multiple vehicles—some containing traces of explosives—and the involvement of educated professionals point to a deep and sophisticated logistical conspiracy.
