Nigerian singer-songwriter Ruger has sparked a social media frenzy after sharing a controversial opinion about women who undergo Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) surgery.
Ruger’s Viral Statement
In a post on his X (formerly Twitter) account, Ruger claimed that when he sees a woman with a BBL, he immediately assumes she has bad character.
“When I see a girl with BBL, I dey straight up think say dem get bad character. Be like the procedure dey come with small attitude and ogba,” he wrote.
The statement quickly went viral, triggering a wave of backlash and sparking a heated debate across social media.
Public Reactions and Backlash
Many users slammed Ruger for making what they deemed an insensitive and unfounded remark. Critics argued that his comment reflected deeper societal biases against women who choose to undergo cosmetic procedures to enhance their bodies.
One user wrote, “Ruger, this one no follow at all. Keep your preference without insulting others.” Another added, “BBL or not, attitude is individual. Stop generalising women!”
Wider Conversation on Body Autonomy and Misogyny
The conversation soon expanded beyond Ruger’s comment to touch on larger issues, including body autonomy, misogyny, and how women’s choices—especially in the entertainment industry—are often subjected to public scrutiny and judgment.
No Further Clarification from Ruger
Despite the uproar, Ruger has not offered any further clarification or apology for his post. However, the conversation continues to ignite discussions online, with many questioning why women’s bodies remain a frequent target for public judgment.
