Schneider Electric Partners with FUTO to Boost Energy Skills

The Schneider Electric Foundation has partnered with the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO) to provide specialized training equipment aimed at equipping students with practical, energy-related technical skills. The initiative is part of Schneider Electric’s global commitment to youth education and entrepreneurship.

The donation includes customized didactic benches for domestic wiring and industrial motor starter applications, giving students in electrical and engineering fields hands-on experience that bridges classroom theory and real-world industry practice.

Prof. Matthew Olubiwe, Head of FUTO’s Electrical Engineering Department, expressed gratitude, noting that the contribution enhances the practical learning experience for both students and technical personnel.

Funmilayo Olakitan, Schneider Electric Foundation Delegate for West Africa, emphasized that the partnership equips students with tools and technologies aligned with industry standards, preparing them for both local and global opportunities.

The collaboration also involved training university instructors, further strengthening the impact of the programme. By expanding its footprint beyond Lagos into eastern Nigeria, Schneider Electric aims to empower the next generation of engineers and entrepreneurs to lead Africa’s energy transition.
