Shehu Sani Criticizes Trump’s “Double Standard” on Global Relations

Former lawmaker Shehu Sani has criticized U.S. President Donald Trump for what he describes as a double standard in his foreign policy, particularly in dealings with African nations.

In a statement posted on X on Wednesday, Sani highlighted Trump’s trillion-dollar deal with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, noting that the U.S. president consistently defended the kingdom, while raising human rights, terrorism, and religious persecution issues primarily with African leaders.

“No African, European, or Latin American country can offer Trump the financial leverage that oil-rich Arab states provide,” Sani said, commenting on Trump’s recent threat of military action in Nigeria over alleged Christian genocide.

He added: “In a materially driven world, a poor man is already a sinner,” suggesting that economic power strongly influences international attention and intervention.

Sani’s remarks underscore concerns about perceived bias in global diplomacy and the role of wealth in shaping international relations.
