Former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani, has reacted to U.S. President Donald Trump’s acknowledgment that Muslims in Nigeria are also victims of terrorist attacks.
In a post on his verified X account on Friday, Sani said Trump’s earlier narrative of genocide appeared aimed at advancing a hidden agenda by involving the United States.
He emphasized that all religious communities must recognize the shared threat of terrorism and collectively work toward its eradication.
“The recent admission by President Trump that ‘Muslims are also killed’ by terrorists in Northern Nigeria properly and objectively locates the violence in its context,” Sani wrote.
He added, “Being a Muslim doesn’t insulate you from the evil of terrorism. We must also free ourselves from the illusion that a foreign power will solve the problems we are supposed to solve ourselves.”
