Vice President Sen. Kashim Shettima has reaffirmed the enduring unity between Nigeria and the Niger Republic, emphasizing that the bonds connecting the two nations are stronger than any challenges that may seek to divide them.
Shettima made the remarks during a courtesy visit to the Emir of Gumel, coinciding with the official commissioning of the Juma’at Friday Mosque in Gumel.
“Nigeria and Niger Republic are the same; they are related and share the same blood,” he stated.
“So don’t be deceived by propaganda that Nigeria doesn’t care for you. You are part of us, and we are part of you. I have my relatives there, our former Minister of Defence has relatives, former Minister Ali Magashi, and others.”
The Vice President acknowledged that misunderstandings are common in all relationships but stressed the importance of dialogue and resolution.
“I want to affirm to Nigeriens that President Bola Ahmad Tinubu loves you and that the country loves you. The bonds that bring both of us together are far stronger than the issues that seek to divide us,” Shettima added.
He also prayed for continued peace, unity, and stability between Nigeria and Niger.
Governor Umar Namadi praised Shettima’s visit and pledged to support the Federal Government’s efforts to maintain peace and stability across the nation.
