The Colombian star imagines Gloria Delgado-Pritchett running her own sauce business in New York and embracing life as an empty nester.
Sofía Vergara Imagines Gloria’s Next Chapter
More than five years after Modern Family wrapped its final season, Sofía Vergara is giving fans a glimpse into what her beloved character, Gloria Delgado-Pritchett, might be doing today.
In a new interview with E! News during the Food Network New York City Wine & Food Festival on Saturday, Oct. 18, Vergara, 53, said she envisions Gloria stepping into a new phase of life — full of family, business, and spice.
“Jay and Gloria would be getting ready for Manny to already have left for college,” Vergara said, referring to her on-screen husband Jay Pritchett (played by Ed O’Neill) and son Manny Delgado (Rico Rodriguez).
Vergara added that she thinks the storyline could have made for a “really, really fun season,” especially with Jay and Gloria adjusting to life as empty nesters while raising their youngest son, Joe.
Gloria Delgado-Pritchett: From Homemaker to Entrepreneur
Vergara’s real-life son, Manolo Gonzalez Vergara, chimed in during the interview, saying that Gloria would “be at the food festival with her sauce.”
Sofía laughed and agreed, imagining Gloria thriving as a Latina businesswoman:
“She would be selling sauce here in New York.”
Given Gloria’s passion for food, family, and flair, it’s easy to picture her launching her own brand — perhaps a spicy line of Colombian-inspired sauces — while charming customers with her humor and style.
The Modern Family Cast Remains Close
Though Modern Family ended in 2020 after an impressive 11 seasons on ABC, Vergara says the bond among cast members remains strong.
“We are still like a family,” she shared. “Everything we do, we are connected in a gigantic chat with all the kids and all the actors. And we’re always watching each other, supporting each other.”
Indeed, the Modern Family cast continues to celebrate milestones together. Recently, Ed O’Neill, Julie Bowen, and Jesse Tyler Ferguson reunited for a “Pritchett family” gathering on Sept. 27, 2025. Ferguson posted a photo captioned “The Pritchetts Sept 27 2025,” which quickly sparked playful comments from co-star Eric Stonestreet.
“Is there drama behind the scenes? Are you all fighting!? Do you hate each other now? Wait. Where am I!? Why am I not there!?” Stonestreet joked in the comments.
The exchange delighted fans, reminding them of the show’s comedic chemistry that made Modern Family a global hit.
A Legacy of Laughter and Love
Since the series’ debut in 2009, Modern Family has remained one of television’s most beloved sitcoms, praised for its humor, diversity, and heartfelt storytelling. Vergara’s portrayal of Gloria — the confident, hilarious, and loving matriarch — earned her four Emmy nominations and solidified her status as one of TV’s most iconic characters.
Co-star Eric Stonestreet recently reflected on the cast’s connection, calling them “a close unit” who will always remain in touch.
“We all love each other. It was no doubt from the beginning,” he told reporters earlier this year. “I remember thinking, ‘Wow, I have a whole lot of new people that I’m going to grow old with and know for the rest of my life.’”
