Former lawmaker and Kaduna Central Senatorial District representative, Shehu Sani, has called on African leaders and citizens to focus on developing their own countries.
Sani made the remarks on Wednesday via his verified X account, following a new US visa ban affecting several African nations.
The United States, under President Donald Trump, recently issued a proclamation expanding travel restrictions, adding 15 more countries to a list of nations facing partial entry limitations.
Reacting to the development, Sani wrote:
“They said the first visa ban focused on those who engage in acts of religious persecution, and many celebrated on social media. The second restriction is for everyone, and Nigeria is listed among 23 others.
The recent list includes no Arab countries but mostly Black Africans and Caribbeans, even though safety and security were cited as reasons.
The message is very clear: Third World migrants are not welcomed. Stay back and build your country or deal with your problems.”
Sani’s statement underscores growing criticism of discriminatory travel policies and calls for greater investment and commitment to national development.
