Suns Star Devin Booker Out at Least One Week with Groin Injury

The Phoenix Suns announced that Devin Booker will miss at least one week after sustaining a right groin strain during Monday night’s win over the Los Angeles Lakers. According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, Booker will be re-evaluated in one week, meaning he could miss as few as two games.

Booker’s Injury and Game Status

Booker started Phoenix’s 125-108 victory over the Lakers at Crypto.com Arena, scoring 11 points in the first quarter. However, he left the game with just over two minutes remaining in the period and did not return. The Suns promptly ruled him out due to the groin strain, though it’s unclear exactly when the injury occurred.

Booker’s 2025-26 Performance

Despite the setback, Booker is having another strong season. The four-time All-Star is averaging:

  • 25 points per game
  • 6.7 assists per game
  • 4.3 rebounds per game

Booker is in his 11th NBA season, having been drafted No. 13 overall by the Suns in 2015 out of Kentucky.

Injury History

Interestingly, this is Booker’s third December in four years dealing with a groin issue. He missed 20 games in December 2022 and another five games last December due to similar groin injuries.

Suns Step Up Without Booker

Even without Booker, the Suns dominated Monday night’s game. Dillon Brooks led the way with 33 points, while Collin Gillespie added 28 points on eight 3-pointers, helping Phoenix snap a two-game losing streak and secure a 17-point victory. The Suns improved to 13-9 on the season.

Upcoming Schedule

The Suns continue a four-game road trip, facing the Houston Rockets on Friday and the Minnesota Timberwolves on Monday. If Booker’s recovery goes as expected, he could return for the Wednesday night matchup against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
