Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited has terminated the employment of Mr. Owoyele Omotuyi Joseph, the company’s Chief Security Officer (CSO) in Ondo State, following an internal review that uncovered alleged serious misconduct.
In a statement issued on Friday, December 5, 2025, the Ondo State Operations of the firm said Mr. Owoyele’s actions violated the company’s operational and ethical standards, citing evidence including WhatsApp messages, payment receipts, and other documents linked to the former CSO.
The materials reportedly suggested Mr. Owoyele engaged with individuals involved in illegal oil bunkering and allegedly negotiated bribes, which contradicts Tantita’s mandate to safeguard Nigeria’s oil and gas assets.
Separately, the report highlighted ongoing allegations against the Ondo State Coordinator, Idowu Asonja, including assault, arson, and salary nonpayment. Residents in Ikale land, Okitipupa Local Government, accused Asonja of leading armed men to attack the home of a local traditional leader, High Chief Ayodele Omodogbe, and allegedly assaulting staff, including Owoyele Joseph.
On December 3, 2025, workers and community members staged protests demanding an investigation into Asonja for salary diversion and abuse of authority, with placards reading: “No money to pay our children’s school fees” and “Two years without salary.”
While Tantita’s announcement focused solely on findings against Owoyele, it warned the public and stakeholders not to engage with him under the assumption that he still represents the company.
Tantita Security Services, run by ex-militant leader Government Ekpemupolo (Tompolo), is contracted by the Nigerian government to protect pipelines and curb oil theft in the Niger Delta, and continues to face scrutiny over internal misconduct and labour disputes in some states.
The firm reaffirmed its commitment to operational discipline, professionalism, and the protection of critical national assets.
