Taraba Governor Declares State of Emergency on Infrastructure and Human Services

Governor Agbu Kefas has declared a state of emergency on infrastructural development and human services to tackle growing challenges that threaten public health, safety, and welfare.

To implement this, the government has set up a 24-month Emergency Implementation Committee (EIC), chaired by Danladi Baido Tijos, with members drawn from key ministries and state agencies including Health, Works & Infrastructure, Finance, Water Resources, Agriculture, Education, and Environment.

Additionally, the governor announced administrative restructuring, creating new ministries and renaming existing ones to better align with their mandates:

  • Ministry of Social Development and Human Service replaces the former Ministry of Cooperatives & Poverty Alleviation.
  • Ministry of Nursery and Basic Education and Ministry of Secondary, Vocational and Skill Education are newly created.
  • Ministry of Social Justice and Re-Integration replaces the former Ministry of Social Justice.

The measures aim to fast-track critical interventions across infrastructure, social services, and human development in the state.
