TCN Schedules Over Two-Week Power Outage in Parts of Abuja

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a planned electricity outage affecting several areas of Abuja for over two weeks.

In a statement on Monday, TCN spokesperson Ndidi Mbah said the disruption, which runs from Tuesday, October 28, to Sunday, November 16, is necessary due to road construction activities in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The outage will impact the 132-kilovolt Gwagwalada–Kukwaba–Apo double-circuit transmission line, resulting in a temporary suspension of bulk electricity supply in areas including Apo, Lokogoma, Guzape, Asokoro, Wuye, Utako, Jabi, and the Idu Industrial Layout.

“The Federal Capital Development Authority will commence road construction along the Kuje axis from Tuesday, October 28, to Sunday, November 16, 2025, affecting the 132 kV Gwagwalada–Kukwaba–Apo transmission line,” TCN stated.

To ensure safety and minimize disruption, TCN will carry out planned load management in three phases:

  • Phase 1: Tuesday, October 28 – Sunday, November 2, daily from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Phase 2: Wednesday, November 6 – Saturday, November 9, daily from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Phase 3: Tuesday, November 12 – Saturday, November 16, daily from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

TCN assured that affected areas would have power restored at the end of each day’s work, emphasizing that the temporary interruptions are necessary for the safety of all stakeholders.
