Tej Pratap’s ‘Sudarshan Chakra’ Warning and Sisters’ Exit: Inside the Tumultuous Last 24 Hours of the Lalu Yadav Family Feud

The past 24 hours have brought an intense and deeply personal storm to the home of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, as his family’s internal conflict spilled explosively into the public domain. What began as an emotional outburst from Rohini Acharya—Lalu’s US-based daughter known widely for donating a kidney to her father two years ago—rapidly escalated into a dramatic series of departures, accusations, warnings, and political reverberations across Bihar.

The timing of the feud has also amplified its impact. It comes just days after the RJD’s disappointing performance in the Bihar assembly elections, where the party managed to win merely 25 of the 140-plus seats it contested, triggering internal talk about leadership, strategy, and accountability. Rohini’s public anger appears to have intersected with this broader political setback, creating a volatile mix of personal hurt and political tension.

Rohini’s Public Outburst: Accusations of Humiliation and Abuse

On Sunday, Rohini took to social media to recount what she described as a deeply painful phase within the family. In a series of posts, she accused certain family members and close aides of “humiliating,” “abusing,” and threatening her. She alleged that she had even been threatened with being hit with a slipper. She wrote that she had been pushed aside, made to feel “worthless,” and burdened with emotional hurt.

Her public expression of anguish stunned political observers. Rohini has long been seen as one of the closest to Lalu Prasad, someone who stood by him in moments of illness and legal crises. Her kidney donation made her a symbol of filial devotion in Bihar’s political and public discourse. Her statements now suggest a fracture far deeper than political disagreements.

In a particularly pointed remark, Rohini questioned why daughters were always expected to compromise. “In a family, why is it that only daughters are expected to make sacrifices, especially when there are brothers?” she asked. She said she had decided to “disown” her brother, without naming him explicitly, although her subsequent statements made clear she was referring to Tejashwi Yadav.

Neither the RJD nor any member of the Yadav family responded immediately to Rohini’s accusations.

Four Sisters Leave Patna Home

If Rohini’s posts were explosive, the developments that followed were even more dramatic. Within hours of her outburst, four of Lalu Yadav’s daughters—Rajlakshmi, Ragini, Hema, and Chanda—quietly left the family residence in Patna along with their children. According to ANI, three of the daughters were seen travelling with their families, while PTI confirmed that Hema also headed to Delhi.

The sudden departure raised immediate questions about whether they felt unsafe, unsupported, or simply unwilling to remain in the middle of the escalating conflict. Their silence upon leaving only deepened the sense of unease and speculation.

Rohini, for her part, maintained that she had the “blessings” of her parents. She announced that she was leaving for Mumbai to stay with her mother-in-law, noting that the latter “has been crying since yesterday.”

Rohini’s Direct Allegations Against Tejashwi and Aides

The most politically consequential portion of Rohini’s claims came when she directly accused her younger brother and former Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar, Tejashwi Yadav, of being responsible for her ouster from the family. She named his close aides—RJD MP Sanjay Yadav and an associate named Rameez—as being equally responsible.

“I have no family. You can go and ask this to Sanjay Yadav, Rameez, and Tejashwi Yadav. They are the ones who threw me out of the family,” she said.

She further alleged that she was “disgraced, abused, and even hit” after she questioned decisions within the party following the election defeat. These allegations strike directly at the core of the RJD’s leadership structure. Tejashwi is widely regarded as the political heir to Lalu Prasad, and Rohini’s statements have created an unprecedented rupture in the family’s public image.

So far, Tejashwi has issued no statement. Sanjay Yadav and Rameez too have remained silent.

Tej Pratap Yadav Breaks His Silence

The person who has spoken most forcefully in Rohini’s defence is her older brother, Tej Pratap Yadav. Once a minister in the Bihar government, and later expelled from the RJD due to internal disagreements, Tej Pratap remains a controversial yet emotionally driven figure in Bihar politics.

He issued a strong and emotional defence of Rohini, describing her as a commendable daughter, sister, and mother. In his view, her grievances were legitimate, and her pain was justified.

“She is correct in her place,” he said. “As a woman, as a mother, as a sister, what she has done is commendable.”

But it was his warning that drew the most attention. In dramatic language, he declared that if anyone attempted to insult or hurt his sister, “Lord Krishna’s Sudarshan Chakra would strike them.” The metaphor was clear—he would not tolerate further disrespect toward her.

He also responded to Rohini’s allegation that someone had taunted her by saying she had given a “dirty kidney” to their father. Tej Pratap called her sacrifice “praiseworthy” and condemned anyone who belittled it.

On the official Instagram page of his party, Janshakti Janata Dal, Tej Pratap issued an even sharper warning. “Listen traitors,” he wrote, “if you attack our family, the people of Bihar will never forgive you.” He added that if Lalu Prasad Yadav issued even a single signal, “the people will bury these traitors.”

He said the events had shaken him “to the core,” noting that though he had tolerated insults and sidelining within the family for years, what had happened to his sister was “unbearable.”

Political Opponents React

Predictably, Bihar’s political opposition seized upon the unfolding drama. BJP national spokesperson Syed Shahnawaz Hussain called the situation “deeply saddening” and remarked that the RJD had earlier sidelined Tej Pratap in a similar fashion.

JD(U) spokesperson Neeraj Kumar praised Rohini as “a daughter who saved her father’s life” and criticised Lalu Prasad and former Chief Minister Rabri Devi for remaining silent. “These tears will cost Lalu Yadav dearly,” he warned, adding that Lalu should not become the political equivalent of “Dhritrashtra,” the blind king who ignored his family’s wrongdoing in the Mahabharata.

AIMIM leader Waris Pathan said the allegations added to the long list of controversies surrounding the Yadav family.

A Family Crisis with Political Consequences

What is unfolding in the Lalu Yadav household is no longer just a family dispute—it has quickly become a political crisis. The RJD, at this moment, is dealing with electoral defeat, internal criticism, and growing discontent within its own ranks. Rohini’s decision to disown her brother, the departure of four sisters, and Tej Pratap’s explosive warnings have created an unprecedented situation.

The coming days will determine whether this crisis deepens or whether the family attempts a truce. For now, the last 24 hours have reshaped Bihar’s political landscape, exposing deep fissures within the state’s most recognisable political family.
