
A newly married man from Kogi State has been abducted by terrorists just days after his wedding while traveling along the Abuja–Lokoja highway.
According to information gathered, the incident occurred on January 1, 2026, near Kotokerefe, a community along the highway that has gained a reputation for repeated attacks and kidnappings.
The victim was reportedly traveling from Inye in Ankpa Local Government Area of Kogi State to Abuja with his wife and a friend when their vehicle was intercepted by armed attackers.
Sources said the assailants forced the vehicle to stop and abducted the man, while his wife and their companion managed to escape. They later raised the alarm after fleeing the scene.
The abducted man was said to have gotten married on December 29, 2025, and was heading to Abuja with his wife shortly after the wedding when the attack took place.
As of the time of filing this report, security agencies have not released an official statement on the incident. It also remains unclear whether the kidnappers have contacted the victim’s family or demanded a ransom.
Meanwhile, in a related development, terrorists recently attacked Idofin community in Yagba East Local Government Area of Kogi State, killing one person and injuring another. The attack reportedly occurred between 7:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 3, 2026. The deceased was identified as a Tiv man, while another resident sustained serious injuries.
