Singer Terry G, born Gabriel Oche Amanyi, has attributed his breakthrough and success in the music industry to the devil, while also addressing viral rumors of his death.
The self-styled “Akpako Master” responded to the false reports in a now-deleted Instagram video, speaking in Pidgin English to reassure fans and well-wishers. He revealed that his phone had been flooded with calls after social media posts falsely claimed he had passed away.
“My phone has been buzzing since morning. People have been calling to check on me because they saw something online saying Terry G don die. I beg, whoever is trending that news should stop. I’m doing very fine, please stop that,” he pleaded.
Terry G also addressed the controversy surrounding his recent appearance on the Honest Bunch podcast, where he said, “I sing for the devil. I’m falling short of the glory of God.” He insisted that this was not a slip of the tongue, but a candid acknowledgment of his career as a secular artist.
“And also, let me clarify this. There’s another one trending about me serving the devil. Una no know before. Una no know say na the devil I dey serve? Yes, na devil I dey serve. Na devil makes me blow (popular),” he stated.
The singer’s comments have reignited discussions about the intersection of fame, personal beliefs, and public perception in Nigeria’s music industry.
