The Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) has lauded President Bola Tinubu for his prompt approval of funding interventions aimed at advancing tertiary education in Nigeria.
Speaking at the 2025 TETFund management retreat in Yola, themed “Advancing TETFund Mandate for Efficient Service Delivery in Beneficiary Institutions,” Executive Secretary Sonny Echono highlighted the administration’s rapid disbursement of funds for development projects across beneficiary institutions.
Echono noted that the 2026 intervention guidelines have already received presidential approval, allowing TETFund to begin implementation without delay. “As I speak, even the 2026 intervention guidelines have been approved by Mr President, so we are ready to hit the ground running,” he said.
The retreat also provided a platform to fine-tune strategies for effective project execution.
Vice-Chancellor of Modibbo Adama University (MAU), Yola, Prof. Ibrahim Umar, expressed gratitude to TETFund for its consistent support, emphasizing that many tertiary institutions would struggle without the agency’s interventions. He requested additional assistance for internal road networks and security improvements.
Similarly, Prof. Mohammed Dagereji, Provost of the Federal College of Education (FCE), Yola, stressed the need for enhanced infrastructural support, particularly in power supply and Internet connectivity, to boost institutional performance.
A key highlight of the retreat was the inauguration of several TETFund-sponsored projects at MAU’s main campus, including the main building of the College of Medical Sciences, Lecture Theatre I, laboratories, animal houses, a library, a veterinary clinic, and the Faculty of Law’s main building.
