Nigerian entertainer Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as Verydarkman (VDM), has voiced his frustration following Nigeria’s 4–2 defeat to Morocco in the AFCON semi-final.
VDM singled out winger Samuel Chukwueze for underperforming, saying the player appeared indecisive and lacked confidence in crucial moments, including the penalty shootout. Despite Chukwueze’s European football experience, VDM argued he failed to deliver when it mattered most.
While expressing disappointment, VDM praised defender Calvin Bassey for his effort, highlighting that the defender gave his all but was let down by other teammates.
The celebrity fan also criticised the match officiating, claiming the referee’s decisions were biased against Nigeria, and implied that the calls significantly affected the team’s performance. VDM revealed that he traveled from Nigeria to watch the match live, only to leave frustrated by both the players’ performance and the perceived referee errors.
This is not the first time VDM has publicly commented on the Super Eagles. He previously warned striker Victor Osimhen to maintain discipline on the field, emphasizing that teammates are not his children.
Reactions from fans have been mixed—some blamed the referee, while others jokingly suggested that celebrities like VDM might have brought bad luck to the team.
