Three Men Arrested for Harassing Woman Rider on Bengaluru Road

Bengaluru: The SG Palya police have arrested three young men for harassing a woman rider for several kilometres on a Bengaluru road. The incident occurred on Thursday night, and an FIR has been registered in connection with the case.

A video shared by Abhinav Vasudevan on the social media platform X shows three men on a two-wheeler following and harassing a woman on the road. In the video, the men can be seen attempting to intimidate the rider as she navigates the busy streets. Abhinav said he intervened and recorded the incident as evidence before the men fled the scene.

The accused have been identified as Roshan (19), Ayan (19), and Rihan Khan (18). Police confirmed that the bike involved in the incident was also traced. Authorities have taken legal action, and the three men have been remanded to judicial custody. Abhinav Vasudevan posted on X, “Saw a girl being harassed by a group of guys for several kilometres on a main road, and this was before 10 pm. I took a video as evidence and intervened; they immediately fled. @BlrCityPolice @blrcitytraffic.”

In a statement, police said, “Regarding this post, suitable legal action has been taken. An FIR has been registered, the accused persons have been arrested and remanded to judicial custody.”

Separate Incident on Bengaluru Metro

In another incident earlier this week, a 46-year-old man was accused of misbehaving with a woman co-passenger aboard a Namma Metro train on Tuesday, December 23. The woman shared a video of the incident on social media, alleging that the man made unwanted physical advances despite her attempts to move away.

According to reports, the woman boarded the metro at Sri Sathya Sai Hospital station and was seated when the man took the seat beside her. He allegedly continued moving closer, making her uncomfortable. She confronted him upon reaching her destination, reportedly slapping him before alighting and again outside the train. The woman claimed the man appeared intoxicated. Authorities, however, rejected claims of leniency towards the accused, and the video could not be independently verified.

These incidents highlight the ongoing concerns about women’s safety in Bengaluru, both on roads and public transport, and underscore the role of vigilant citizens and prompt police action in addressing harassment.
