Three Qatari Officials Killed in Car Crash in Egypt’s Sharm el-Sheikh

Three Qatari officials were killed in a car crash near the Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh, the Qatari Embassy in Cairo confirmed. Two others were injured in the “tragic traffic accident,” according to the embassy.

The embassy stated that all three men were employees of the Amiri Diwan, the administrative office of Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and were carrying out their official duties at the time. The two injured officials are receiving treatment in a Sharm el-Sheikh hospital.

“The Embassy of the State of Qatar in Cairo extends its heartfelt condolences and sincere sympathies to the families of the deceased, praying for their mercy and a speedy recovery for the injured,” the statement said.

Sharm el-Sheikh has recently been at the center of Middle East diplomacy. The city hosted negotiations for a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas earlier this week and is set to hold a global summit on Monday to finalize the agreement.
