At the 83rd Annual Golden Globe Awards, held at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles on Sunday, January 11, Timothée Chalamet triumphed in the Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy category for his role in Marty Supreme. The actor shared an emotional and heartfelt acceptance speech, thanking his parents, costars, and his partner, Kylie Jenner, who attended the ceremony as his date.
Chalamet’s Emotional Acceptance Speech
Beaming as he took the stage, Chalamet, 30, expressed his gratitude for those who shaped his career and personal life. He first thanked his costars and collaborators before turning to his family and partner:
“My dad instilled in me a spirit of gratitude growing up. Always be grateful for what you have. It’s allowed me to leave this ceremony in the past empty-handed, my head held high, grateful just to be here. For my parents, for my partner, I love you. Thank you so much.”
Kylie Jenner, sitting in the audience, smiled and applauded as Chalamet kissed her in celebration.
He also recognized the director and crew of Marty Supreme:
“Thank you to [director] Josh Safdie, Ronnie Bronstein, the amazing cast of Odessa A’Zion, Gwyneth Paltrow, Tyler, The Creator, Fran Drescher, Kevin O’Leary. Thank you for believing in me and this role. This portrait reflects so much of your vision and dedication.”
With his trademark humor, Chalamet added a light-hearted quip about Kevin O’Leary from Shark Tank, which brought laughter to the audience:
“If you would have told me when I was 19 years old I’d be thanking Mr. Wonderful from Shark Tank… alright, you’re laughing, so I got away with that. Thank you, Kevin.”
