Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Abubakar Bagudu, has affirmed that President Bola Tinubu continues to prioritise the welfare of Nigerian children, focusing on long-term investments that support their growth and development.
Speaking during the UNICEF World Children’s Day 2025 celebration in Abuja, Bagudu highlighted the administration’s commitment to children despite ongoing security and economic pressures, following the recent abduction of students from Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School in Maga, Kebbi State.
He said:
“I want to assure our children that despite the challenge of the moment, a great future lies ahead of them. We want them to be better than all of us. Our President, Asiwaju Tinubu, is an advocate for investment in children and teacher education. He is committed to giving them the maximum support they need to develop.”
Bagudu also called for prayers for the abducted students and children in captivity worldwide, urging global leaders to treat child abductions as attacks on humanity that demand collective action.
First Lady Oluremi Tinubu emphasized that respecting children’s rights is central to creating a fair and compassionate society. Speaking on the occasion themed “Listen to Children: My Day, My Rights”, she urged Nigerians to ensure that every child grows up with hope, confidence, and the freedom to reach their full potential.
“Our children are not only the leaders of tomorrow; they are active participants in shaping our world today. Listening to their voices helps us create a safer, more inclusive, and nurturing society,” the First Lady stated.
She added that giving children a genuine platform to express their thoughts and aspirations is essential for building a society that values fairness, protection, and empowerment for all young Nigerians.
