Nollywood actress and media personality Toke Makinwa has advised mothers against bathing their newborns every day, warning that it could damage a baby’s delicate skin.
In a video shared on her social media page, Makinwa, who recently became a mother at 40, explained that babies are naturally clean and that their time in the womb does not make them dirty.
“I don’t bathe my baby every day because it is not necessary. Babies are not on the floor; they are not dirty or sweaty. So, why are you excessively putting water on their skin? Their skin is fragile. You can wipe them instead of bathing them every day,” she said.
The advice, based on her personal experience, has sparked mixed reactions online, with some questioning her qualifications and approach to childcare.
