Trinity University, located in Yaba, Lagos, recently held a vibrant Christmas carol celebration, where students captivated staff members and guests with a series of festive and uplifting songs.
The event, which was both sacred and celebratory, focused on songs of praise, Bible readings, and reflections on the birth, hope of the second coming, and redemptive power of Jesus Christ. It served as a reminder of the joy and significance of the Christmas season.
A Call to Faith and Hope
The celebration was graced by the presence of Pro-Chancellor Pastor Samuel Olatunji and Vice-Chancellor Prof. Clement Kolawole, both of whom delivered heartfelt messages of faith, hope, and gratitude to God. They urged attendees to hold firmly to these virtues and assured them that God’s divine promises remain unshaken, even amidst global and national challenges.
Pastor Olatunji described Christmas as a special time that underscores God’s commitment to humanity’s salvation, emphasizing that it marks the fulfillment of God’s eternal plan for redemption. Citing Luke 1:68–71, he reminded everyone that God has promised to save humanity from its adversities and continues to remain active in the lives of individuals and nations.
Despite the turmoil and uncertainties that the world faces, Pastor Olatunji reassured the congregation, saying, “There is a God in heaven who is committed to intervening in the affairs of men.” He encouraged people to live with courage and trust in divine help, even during trying times.
A Prayer for Fulfillment of Promises
Prof. Kolawole, speaking on the theme “All Hail the Saviour of Mankind,” anchored his message on Luke 1:45, declaring, “There shall be a performance of those things which were told from the Lord.” He offered prayers for the fulfillment of God’s promises in the lives of the people and for the Christmas season to bring blessings and joy to all.
Both leaders emphasized that the Christmas message offers renewed hope and confidence that God’s word will be fulfilled—not only in Nigeria but across the globe. Their words resonated with the attendees, offering assurance that despite current challenges, there is a promise of a better future through faith in God’s power.
A Message of Assurance and Hope for All
As the celebration came to a close, the university’s Christmas carol served not only as a reminder of the true meaning of the season but also as a beacon of hope and faith for the community. The event was a testament to the power of music, prayer, and community spirit in spreading peace, joy, and divine assurance.
