Troops of the 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army / Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have successfully raided and destroyed several bandits’ camps during clearance operations across Taraba State.
According to the Brigade’s spokesman, Lieutenant Umar Muhammad, the offensive, code-named Operation Lafiya Nakowa, aims to flush out hibernating bandits and terrorist elements within the Brigade’s area of responsibility.
“Acting on credible intelligence on the activities of bandits around Unom, Yongogba, Tornyi, and Mbayongo villages in Takum Local Government Area, troops on Friday, 31 October 2025, conducted a clearance patrol through Tor-Tser, Kofar Ahmadu, Tornyi, Unom, Mbayongo, and Yongogba villages,” he said.
“The operation successfully cleared the identified areas, including adjoining settlements and river lines.”
During the patrol, troops received fresh intelligence at Kofar Ahmadu village indicating bandits were hiding around TY Farm in Tati. Troops immediately advanced through Sabon Gida Tati, engaging the criminals. Confronted with superior firepower, the bandits fled deeper into the forest.
“On exploitation, the troops discovered and destroyed a major bandits’ camp at TY Farm, effectively denying the criminals a safe haven. One Dane gun and other items were recovered from the site,” Lieutenant Muhammad said.
Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, Commander of 6 Brigade / Sector 3 OPWS, commended the troops for their swift response, gallantry, and professionalism.
“We remain committed to maintaining peace and security across Taraba State,” he said, urging residents to continue providing timely and credible information to support ongoing operations.
The operation underscores the Nigerian Army’s continued efforts to combat banditry and ensure security in vulnerable areas of the country.
