Troost-Ekong Declares Super Eagles United Ahead of Gabon Play-Off

Nigeria captain William Troost-Ekong has confirmed that all issues surrounding the Super Eagles’ recent training boycott have been resolved, restoring focus ahead of today’s 2026 FIFA World Cup play-off against Gabon in Rabat, Morocco.

The boycott on Tuesday was over a pay dispute, with players seeking new agreements on special match bonuses, despite previous allowances having been cleared. Following closed-door discussions with the NFF, a compromise was reached.

Troost-Ekong reassured fans on X, stating:

“Issue resolved. Outstanding promises cleared on ground. Team is united and focused as before on representing Nigeria with our maximum for the games ahead.”

The winner of the Nigeria vs. Gabon match at Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium will advance to face Cameroon or DR Congo in the CAF play-off final for a 2026 World Cup spot.

Troost-Ekong, Player of the Tournament at the last AFCON, is expected to play a key role both on and off the pitch in guiding the Super Eagles toward qualification.
