A dispute has erupted between Rev. Okechukwu Obioha and Rev. Isaac Nnaji over control of a church property at 35 Nanka Street, New Haven, Enugu.
- Obioha, managing the property since 2021, holds a Power of Attorney authorizing him to administer the property on behalf of the national church.
- Nnaji, recently posted to the district, claims the property now falls under his authority.
The conflict escalated on 30 October 2025, when Obioha alleged he was ambushed by Nnaji’s men while collecting rent. He reported threats to his life and called for police intervention. The confrontation caused a local traffic jam.
The Enugu State Police Command has begun investigating. Nnaji declined to comment, while Obioha recounted the incident in a formal petition.
The Assemblies of God Church General Secretary, Rev. Godwin Amaowoh, affirmed that Obioha has lawful authority and accused Nnaji of acting with “thuggery”. He stressed that the national church will reclaim its assets and prevent further internal sabotage.
