The crash occurred around 11:45 a.m. on Wednesday along the New Garki axis and involved 11 vehicles, including four trucks, two trailers, a Sienna, a tipper, a Hiace bus, a Mini-Bus, and a Jeep.
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) confirmed that the nine injured victims, all males, were rushed to the National Orthopaedic Hospital, Enugu, and the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH) for treatment. A total of 30 people were involved in the crash, comprising 26 males and four females.
Mr. Franklin Agbakoba, Sector Commander of the FRSC Enugu Command, praised the prompt response of FRSC operatives from the Ozalla Unit, who arrived at the scene within 10 minutes, supported by the police, military, and other nearby FRSC units.
The Enugu State Traffic Management Authority (ESTMA) assisted in clearing debris and restoring traffic flow, while FRSC Zebra 32 Ambulance teams transported the injured.
Although the exact cause of the crash is still under investigation, the FRSC suggested that speeding, route violation, and loss of control may have contributed to the incident.
