Two unidentified men have been shot dead in a suspected cult-related attack in the Ajah area of Lagos State.
A source, who spoke on condition of anonymity due to security concerns, said the victims were discovered after gunshots rang out near Ikota Complex, causing panic among residents.
The incident reportedly occurred on Tuesday night, when armed men suddenly descended on the busy area and opened fire indiscriminately. The attack sparked chaos, forcing shop owners, residents, and passersby to flee for safety.
“When the shooting started, everyone around Ikota Complex ran for cover. When calm returned, two young men were found lying lifeless in separate spots,” the source said, noting that both victims had sustained gunshot wounds.
An anti-cultism advocacy group, Naija Confra, later confirmed that the shooting was connected to a clash between rival cult groups. According to the group, members of the Aye confraternity reportedly carried out the attack, targeting two individuals, though the victims’ identities remain unknown.
Efforts to reach the Lagos State Police Command for comment were unsuccessful, as calls and messages to spokesperson Abimbola Adebisi went unanswered at the time of reporting.
