UAE Land Forces Commander Visits India, Briefed on ‘Operation Sindoor’ to Boost Defence Ties

Major General Yousef Maayouf Saeed Al Hallami, Commander of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Land Forces, is on an official visit to India from October 27–28, marking a significant step in deepening defence cooperation between the two nations.

Strengthening Military Partnership

According to India’s Ministry of Defence, the visit aims to enhance bilateral military collaboration, especially in areas like training, capability enhancement, and defence technology. The UAE Commander was accorded a ceremonial welcome and given a comprehensive briefing on “Operation Sindoor,” an Indian Army initiative highlighting operational excellence and preparedness.

Officials said this engagement reflects the longstanding and growing defence partnership between India and the UAE, underscoring both nations’ commitment to regional stability and joint security interests.

Focus on Technology, AI, and Innovation

During his visit, Maj Gen Al Hallami received detailed presentations from the Director General, Information System, and the Army Design Bureau, where he was briefed on India’s defence capabilities and the artificial intelligence (AI) roadmap being integrated into the Indian Army.

He is also scheduled to visit the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), where he will be briefed on indigenous weapon systems and military equipment platforms. The UAE Commander will hold discussions with Dr. Samir V. Kamat, Secretary, Department of Defence R&D and Chairman, DRDO, to explore opportunities for joint research and industrial collaboration.

Honouring India’s Fallen Soldiers

On Tuesday, Maj Gen Al Hallami will lay a wreath at the National War Memorial in New Delhi, paying tribute to India’s fallen soldiers.

Industry and Future Cooperation

In addition to official meetings, the visiting Commander will interact with representatives from Indian defence industries to discuss avenues for mutual cooperation, technology sharing, and future joint ventures.

The Defence Ministry described the visit as an “important milestone” in bilateral relations, noting that it would further solidify defence ties and pave the way for a “future-ready partnership” focused on military engagement, defence innovation, and regional security cooperation.

This visit follows a series of high-level defence exchanges between India and the UAE, reflecting their shared vision for a secure and stable Indo-West Asian region.
