UNILAG Graduates 3,136 Students from Education, Communication, and Social Sciences Faculties

The University of Lagos (UNILAG) has graduated 3,136 students from the Faculties of Education, Communication and Media Studies, and Social Sciences, as part of its 2025 convocation ceremonies at the main campus in Lagos.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Folasade Ogunsola revealed that the three-day convocation will see a total of 16,506 students awarded degrees, including 10,584 first degrees and diplomas and 5,782 postgraduate degrees. An additional 140 students will graduate from the University of Lagos Business School.

Prof. Ogunsola highlighted outstanding graduates, noting that David Adebayo emerged as the best graduating student in the Faculty of Education with a CGPA of 4.92, also finishing as joint best in the sciences. In Communication and Media Studies, Tosin Odunewu achieved a CGPA of 4.89, while Baki Adams topped Social Sciences with a CGPA of 4.85. Stella Okeke led the Sandwich Programme with a CGPA of 4.91.

The Vice-Chancellor thanked the university Senate, staff, alumni, and industry partners for their continued support and pledged to continue enhancing facilities for learning, research, and innovation. She noted that several new buildings have been completed and will be commissioned soon.

Addressing the graduands, Prof. Ogunsola emphasized the importance of adaptability in a rapidly changing world, particularly with advancements in Artificial Intelligence. She encouraged them to approach the future with courage, resilience, and a commitment to lifelong learning.
