Nigerian reality TV star and comedian Aderombi Adedayo, popularly known as DeeOne, has revealed that celebrity fashion designer Veekee James is his ex.

The revelation came in response to Veekee James’s recent comments about the comedian. During an appearance on the Unfiltered and Extra Spicy with Ify’s Kitchen podcast, the designer described DeeOne as “unserious.” She stated:

“For someone like DeeOne, if you are a smart person, you will know that you cannot take him seriously. If you take him seriously then you are either jobless or something else. I have really not seen him say something serious.”

Reacting to her remarks, DeeOne acknowledged their past romantic relationship, calling the situation “a blast from the past.” In a video captioned “Ruth, you never still move on from this our matter” on Instagram, he assured fans that he had moved on.

He further cautioned netizens against taking celebrity matters personally, adding:

“A lot of people don’t know this, but when I came out from Big Brother Naija in 2018, Ruth and I had something. Correct babe oo, sweet, she’s good. That’s the truth of the matter. Personally, I don’t like people controlling me. For me, there’s no bad blood, and it’s not that I didn’t treat her well.”

DeeOne also addressed claims about his involvement in Veekee’s work, saying:

“Some people in the industry know about what I’m saying. Even her husband, Mr. Femi James, knows. I don’t just like when people are controlling or sending me too many messages. She could be sewing and say, ‘Help me do this, please can you buy this for me,’ and I’d be like, ‘What’s going on? I’m a boyfriend, not a house help.’”

Despite the controversy, DeeOne expressed goodwill, saying:

“I wish them the best. I’m a fan of whatever they are doing because I’m not a hater and I have moved on. I don’t know where this remark is coming from, but if there’s any upset, maybe it’s something you feel I did and I don’t know. I’m sorry. But from me, it’s all love. My people, don’t take all this personally. There are things in the entertainment industry that you don’t know about, and the reason I’m saying this is because she’s the one that talks negatively about me.”
