Lucknow, Dec 8, 2025: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday urged residents to remain vigilant and verify the identity of anyone they employ, emphasizing that the state is taking strict action against illegal immigrants to safeguard security and social stability.
The CM’s remarks come amid an ongoing crackdown against infiltrators, particularly Rohingya and Bangladeshi nationals, following his directives to authorities last week.
Adityanath’s Appeal to Residents
Addressing citizens through a post on X, Adityanath stated, “The honourable Supreme Court has made an extremely important remark during a hearing that a red carpet cannot be laid out for infiltrators. This makes it clear that infiltrators are not acceptable at any cost.”
He further underscored that resources of the state belong to citizens, not illegal immigrants, and highlighted that maintaining security, social equilibrium, and law and order remains a priority for his government.
Supreme Court Observations
The chief minister’s comments echoed remarks made by the Supreme Court on December 2, where the bench of Chief Justice Surya Kant and Justice Joymalya Bagchi questioned the legal status of Rohingyas living in India. During the hearing of a habeas corpus petition filed by a rights activist regarding the disappearance of some Rohingyas from custody in Delhi, the court asked whether “intruders” should be given a “red carpet welcome” while citizens struggled with poverty.
State Action Against Illegal Immigrants
Adityanath announced that a stringent identification drive has been launched across Uttar Pradesh:
- Urban local bodies have been directed to identify suspected foreign nationals and prepare detailed lists.
- Special document verification drives are underway to confirm the identities of individuals.
- Identified infiltrators are being sent to detention centres for further action, with facilities being set up in every administrative division.
- The aim is to prevent diversion of welfare benefits meant for deprived citizens.
Call for Collective Responsibility
The CM stressed that state security is a collective responsibility, stating: “The security of the state is our collective responsibility because security is the foundation of prosperity.”
Adityanath’s message was clear: residents should exercise caution when hiring workers and ensure proper documentation is checked, in line with the state’s broader effort to curb illegal immigration and uphold law and order.
This initiative is part of a larger push by the UP government to strengthen internal security and ensure that benefits under welfare schemes reach the intended recipients, rather than being diverted to illegal immigrants.
