A video showing controversial Nigerian singer Habeed Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, being transported to prison in a security vehicle has gone viral on social media.
The footage emerged shortly after the singer was arraigned on Monday at the Federal High Court in Ota, Ogun State, where he faced a nine-count criminal charge filed by the police.
According to the Ogun State Police Command spokesperson, Oluseyi Babaseyi, the charges against Portable include assault, theft, causing bodily harm, and resisting arrest. The case followed multiple complaints lodged against the singer over alleged violent conduct.
Prosecutors alleged that Portable assaulted his estranged partner, Ashabi Simple, alongside police officers and other individuals at his bar in Iyana Ilogbo on New Year’s Day. Other alleged victims named in the charge include Ileyemi Damilola, Akinyanju Oluwabusayomi, Olowu Olumide, Demilade Ogunniyi, and Ebuka Odah.
The singer is also accused of stealing a Mercedes-Benz E300 valued at ₦12 million, reportedly owned by Ileyemi Damilola and purchased from Wally Dex Auto.
Police further alleged that Portable assaulted and obstructed a female police inspector, Ogungbe Olayemi, while she was carrying out her official duties.
During the court session, the presiding judge denied the singer bail, ruling that the alleged assaulted police officer must be present in court before bail could be considered. Portable was subsequently remanded in custody and transferred to prison.
The viral video has since sparked widespread reactions online, with social media users expressing mixed views over the unfolding legal drama.
