West Ham Sign Argentina Striker Valentin ‘Taty’ Castellanos

West Ham United have completed the signing of Argentina striker Valentin ‘Taty’ Castellanos from Lazio, agreeing a four-and-a-half-year deal with an option for a further year. The fee has not been disclosed.

Castellanos’ Career So Far

The 27-year-old joined Lazio in 2023, making 98 appearances for the Serie A club, scoring 22 goals and providing 16 assists. Castellanos has also featured for New York City FC and Girona, establishing himself as a versatile forward.

He has represented Argentina twice since his debut in 2024 and brings both international experience and a proven goal-scoring record to the Hammers.

West Ham’s January Transfer Plans

West Ham head coach Nuno Espirito Santo identified Castellanos as a key target in the January transfer window, following the arrival of Brazilian striker Pablo Felipe from Gil Vicente earlier this month for a reported €25m (£22m).

Castellanos said he is determined to make an immediate impact:

“Every match is a battle, and I’m here to contribute that, to try to bring that energy, that fighting spirit I have inside, so that every match is as important and as tough as possible.”

West Ham’s Situation in the Premier League

The club currently sit 18th in the Premier League, four points adrift of Nottingham Forest in 17th, as they prepare for their upcoming match on Tuesday. Castellanos’ arrival adds firepower to West Ham’s attack as they look to escape the relegation zone.
