Former Big Brother Naija Season 7 winner, Phyna, has revealed why she no longer encourages people to audition for the popular reality TV show.
Speaking candidly, Phyna explained that although BBNaija can bring instant fame, the popularity enjoyed by housemates during the show often fades quickly once they leave the house.
According to her, the excitement and “steeze” contestants display on the show rarely lasts afterward, largely because the fan base simply shifts from one season’s housemates to the next.
“The steeze housemates have on the show, they don’t have it again after. It’s the same fan base moving from one person to another—no new people, nothing new,” she said.
Phyna also noted that the show has lost some of its credibility compared to previous years, adding that being a former BBNaija housemate no longer commands the same level of respect it once did.
“When you tell someone now that you came out of BBNaija, they won’t rate you the way they used to before,” she added.
She further explained that many people misunderstand life after the show, often assuming it guarantees instant wealth, long-term fame, and stability. In reality, she said, several ex-housemates struggle quietly behind the scenes despite projecting a glamorous lifestyle on social media.
For many contestants, Phyna noted, post-show life turns out to be very different from the excitement and attention experienced while in the house.
Her honest remarks have reignited conversations online about the realities of reality TV stardom, with many agreeing that aspiring contestants should fully understand the pressures and uncertainties that come after the cameras stop rolling.
