The fifth wife of the late Alayemore Olojudo of Ido-Osun, Oba Tajudeen Aderemi Adedapo, Olori Adeola Adedapo, has petitioned the Osun State Police Command, alleging threats to her life and that of her son by some members of the royal family.
In the petition, submitted through her lawyer, Okobe Najite, Olori Adeola demanded the arrest of the late monarch’s first daughter, Dolapo Adedapo, and his fourth wife, Olori Zainab Adedapo, over the alleged threats.
Olori Adeola stated that she was universally acknowledged by palace chiefs and other royal wives as the fifth wife of the late king. She lived with him until his death on May 17, 2024, and later gave birth to their son, Prince Idris Aderemi Adedapo, on December 8, 2024.
According to family sources, the late monarch had separated from his first wife, mother of Dolapo, before marrying Adeola. The king’s younger brother, Alhaji Sulaiman Angulu, said the family had been providing N50,000 monthly for Prince Idris’s upkeep as confirmation of the late monarch’s responsibility.
Angulu added that proceeds from the sale of some royal properties had been shared among all five wives and their children, with each reportedly receiving over N14 million. However, the dispute arose after Olori Adeola and her son were allegedly denied their full entitlement of about N30 million, which she claims was withheld by Dolapo in collaboration with Olori Zainab.
The petition also alleges that properties worth N250 million in the GRA area of Oke-Fia, Osogbo, were sold, and the proceeds kept by Dolapo. It states that, according to tradition, the late king’s estate should be shared equally among his wives, as he died intestate.
Olori Adeola’s lawyer said, “Acres of land and other properties were sold recently, and the proceeds were kept in the custody of Dolapo Adedapo, the child of the first wife. It is important to note that the late king had separated from Dolapo’s mother long before his demise.”
The current Alayemore Olojudo of Ido-Osun, Oba Olayinka Jokotola, Ilufemiloye I, has been briefed on the matter to ensure that no wife or child of the late monarch is denied their rightful share.
The Osun State Police Command confirmed that its X-Squad Unit is handling the case. Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, said investigations are ongoing but complicated by the fact that some of the Oloris reside abroad.
He added, “The petition was submitted to the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Gotan’s office, and the X-Squad was assigned to investigate. Investigation is ongoing.”
On the matter, Oba Olayinka Jokotola stated that he was not aware of the situation and urged parties involved to substantiate their claims.
