The National Vice Chairman (South-South) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Emmanuel Ogidi, has said that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, and his allies can no longer be regarded as true members of the party.
Ogidi made the remark on Friday during an interview on Arise Television, monitored by DAILY POST, while reacting to comments and actions attributed to the former Rivers State governor and his associates.
He dismissed Wike’s criticisms of the party’s leadership and processes, insisting that the PDP remains committed to holding its national convention despite a recent court order halting the exercise.
“We are doing everything in line with our party’s constitution and guidelines,” Ogidi said. “It’s unfortunate that some members are being economical with the truth. What happened in court today was like a comedy. We have already filed an appeal and will continue with our preparations because we believe we are doing the right thing.”
The PDP chieftain maintained that the party had not derailed from due process and would pursue its plans lawfully, regardless of distractions from within or outside its ranks.
Speaking further, Ogidi accused Wike and other aggrieved members of arrogance and anti-party behaviour.
“They are the ones displaying arrogance and boasting. They are not PDP members as far as I am concerned,” he declared.
The comments come amid internal wrangling within the PDP over the forthcoming national convention, with factions loyal to Wike reportedly challenging recent decisions taken by the party’s leadership.
