Woman Rescued Alive After Falling Into Well in Kano

The Kano State Fire Service has rescued a woman who fell into a well in Gafiyawa town, Kumbotso Local Government Area, on Wednesday, November 26, 2025.

According to the agency, the emergency call was placed by a local resident, Ibrahim Sani Hausawa. In a statement signed by ACFO Saminu Yusif Abdullahi, Public Relations Officer of the Fire Service, officials said they immediately mobilized to the scene.

On arrival, they found a 65-year-old woman, Khadija Muhammad, who, according to her relatives, has mental health challenges. She was brought out alive thanks to “God’s intervention and the swift efforts of our men.” Khadija was later handed over to her brother, Malam Ibrahim Dahiru.

The Fire Service director used the incident to urge residents and property owners to secure wells in their homes or compounds by reinforcing the edges and installing metal covers to prevent accidents involving people or animals.
