Women’s Indoor Golf League to Launch in 2026

The first women’s edition of the TGL indoor golf league—founded by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy—is set to take place at the end of 2026, bringing a new high-tech, fast-paced format to the LPGA calendar.

Following the successful inaugural men’s TGL season in 2025, Woods and McIlroy created the league with the goal of taking golf “into the 21st century,” combining technology, entertainment, and competitive team matchplay in a revolutionary indoor environment.

How WTGL Will Work

The Women’s TGL (WTGL) will feature the world’s top women golfers competing in team-based matchplay. Players will take shots at five-storey-high simulator screens before moving to a rotating green that allows for 360-degree hole-to-hole variations. This format provides a unique combination of precision, strategy, and spectator-friendly action, designed to engage both traditional golf fans and new audiences.

“Partnering with TMRW Sports on WTGL reflects our belief that innovation can help the game reach new fans and create greater visibility for LPGA athletes,” said LPGA chief Craig Kessler.

“It creates another global stage for our athletes—one that helps fans connect more deeply with them and continues to elevate the visibility and growth of women’s golf.”

Previous TGL Highlights

The TGL’s men’s debut in 2025 saw Atlanta Drive narrowly defeat New York GC 4-3 to claim the inaugural title in Florida. The Atlanta team, consisting of Patrick Cantlay, Billy Horschel, Justin Thomas, and Lucas Glover, split £6.93 million in prize money, while New York’s players shared £3.46 million. The league quickly gained popularity for its combination of high-tech simulation, fast-paced competition, and fan-friendly atmosphere.

What WTGL Means for Women’s Golf

The launch of WTGL represents a major step forward for women’s golf. By showcasing the top LPGA players in an innovative indoor format, the league aims to increase fan engagement, provide greater media exposure, and offer new sponsorship opportunities. It also positions women’s golf alongside the latest technological advances in sports entertainment, highlighting the LPGA’s commitment to growth and innovation.

Early reports suggest teams such as Boston Common Golf are preparing to lead the way in the upcoming season, creating excitement for fans eager to see elite female golfers compete in a groundbreaking format.

Looking Ahead

The 2026 WTGL season promises to combine elite athleticism with cutting-edge technology, bringing women’s golf to a new audience and providing a global stage for players to showcase their skills. With Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy involved in its creation, the league is expected to attract top talent and generate substantial media attention.

Fans can look forward to a season of thrilling matchplay, spectacular shots, and a fresh perspective on the sport—inside the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida—as WTGL redefines indoor golf competition.
