Actress and producer Zainab Balogun has expressed disbelief after being charged ₦10,000 for a single cup of green tea at a Lagos restaurant.

Sharing the experience on Instagram, Balogun explained that she visited the restaurant with a friend but only ordered tea, as she wasn’t hungry. The tea was served in a pot with a large cup, and she initially enjoyed it without checking the price.

She recounted her shock at seeing the bill:

“My mouth dropped… What do you mean you boiled water, put two tea bags, and it was ₦10,000? I obviously could not argue because I drank their tea. There’s no way to give it back. I had to pay.”

Balogun joked about regretting not taking photos to make the expensive experience “worth it,” adding, “I should have joined another lady doing a photo shoot. You must use your money and the space well.”

Reflecting on the incident, she vowed to be more cautious about dining out, noting, “There’s tea at home. This will not happen again.”
