Zlatan Ibile Criticizes FG Over Economic Hardship in Nigeria

Popular Nigerian musician Zlatan Ibile has expressed frustration over the government’s perceived inaction in addressing Nigeria’s ongoing economic hardship.

In a recent interview with Madame Joyce in the UK, Zlatan reflected on British rapper Dave’s satire of Nigeria’s stark contrast between flamboyant clubbers and impoverished beggars outside the clubs. The artist lamented that hardship has become normalized in Nigerian society due to the government’s failure to act.

“We are used to it [suffering and smiling], that’s how it has always been, and the government isn’t doing anything about it,” Zlatan said.

He also criticized some beggars who have made street begging a career, despite receiving alms from generous Nigerians, including artists. Zlatan described this sense of entitlement as “annoying” and urged street beggars to pursue productive and dignified ventures as a more sustainable solution to financial struggles.
