A 71-year-old man, Jeriel Clifford Peter, has been arrested for allegedly killing his 67-year-old wife, Miltha Jeriel, following a domestic dispute in Demsa Local Government Area.

The Adamawa State Police Command confirmed that the incident occurred on Thursday, November 6, 2025, after a disagreement at a local bar reportedly escalated into violence.

According to a statement by SP Sulaiman Nguroje, Police Public Relations Officer for the state command, the suspect allegedly struck his wife multiple times with a knife and an axe.

“Upon receiving a distress call, police operatives led by the Divisional Police Officer of Demsa Division promptly arrived at the scene. The victim was rushed to the hospital but unfortunately died while receiving treatment. Her body has been deposited at the hospital mortuary for autopsy,” Nguroje said.

The police added that the suspect was immediately apprehended, and the weapons used in the attack were recovered.

Condemning the act as inhuman, Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, directed the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Yola, to take over the case and ensure a thorough investigation and prosecution.
