Tom Brady’s new CardVault store in SoHo, New York City became the target of a robbery less than two weeks after its grand opening. The NYPD confirmed that on October 20, 2025, a suspect stole $9,710 worth of collectible Pokémon and baseball cards from the store, which opened on October 8.
According to a news release from the NYPD, the male suspect initially attempted to purchase merchandise using a credit card. When the transaction was declined, he reportedly “began to enter manual prompts into the contact payment terminal without the employee’s knowledge to bypass the transaction being declined,” effectively stealing the items.
The suspect then fled southbound on Lafayette Street. Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the incident.
Investigation Underway
The NYPD’s Financial Crimes Task Force is actively investigating the theft, treating it as a case of grand larceny. The suspect was last seen wearing a black baseball cap, black hooded sweatshirt, black shorts, white socks, white sneakers, and carrying a multicolored bag.
Authorities are asking anyone with information about the robbery to contact the NYPD Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or, for Spanish speakers, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). All calls are strictly confidential.
CardVault Store Details
The SoHo location is one of nine CardVault stores nationwide. The store allows customers to buy, sell, trade, and grade sports cards and collectibles. Tom Brady acquired 50% ownership of CardVault in February 2025, according to a company press release, further expanding his business ventures beyond his legendary NFL career.
Despite the setback, CardVault continues to provide collectors with access to rare and valuable items, including sports cards, Pokémon cards, and other memorabilia, highlighting the growing market for collectible trading cards.
A Growing Concern for Collectible Stores
The incident at CardVault underscores the risk of theft in high-value collectible stores, which have become increasingly popular among sports and entertainment fans. With collectibles often worth thousands of dollars, store owners are urged to strengthen security measures and train employees to prevent fraud and theft.
While the investigation continues, Tom Brady’s team and the NYPD hope to apprehend the suspect quickly and recover the stolen merchandise, ensuring the SoHo location remains a safe destination for collectors.
