“230 Million Nigerians Will Defeat 25 Governors in 2027” – El-Rufa’i

Former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufa’i has expressed confidence that Nigerians will choose their preferred leaders in the 2027 elections, despite some governors switching parties.

Speaking at the opening of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) National Contact and Mobilization Office in Jos on Wednesday, El-Rufa’i said while some PDP governors are defecting to APC, Nigerians are moving toward ADC.

He emphasized that the party has the potential to unite Plateau State and the entire country if it wins power in 2027.

Acknowledging current challenges in the country, he urged Plateau residents to support ADC for a brighter future. Sharing a personal anecdote, he said:

“Forty years ago, I visited Plateau every week because my fiancée did her National Youth Service here in Jos. Even after marriage, we regularly spent weekends in Jos. But since then, things have gone in the wrong direction. With better leadership at state and national levels, we can unite people across ethnic and religious lines, making Plateau the Home of Peace and Tourism it once was.”

El-Rufa’i criticized the APC and PDP, noting that Nigerians are tired of the two-party dominance and are seeking fresh leadership. He stated:

“Governors from PDP are defecting to APC, but Nigerians are defecting to ADC. By God’s grace, 230 million Nigerians will defeat 25 governors. Nigerians have decided that in 2027, they will vote for ADC.”

Highlighting the party’s inclusivity, he added:

“ADC reserved 40% of leadership positions for youth and 35% for women. It is a party for young people and women. All of you here have a role to play in uniting party members, promoting our candidates, and advocating policies that will benefit all Nigerians.”

The Plateau State ADC coordinator, Hon. Jamilu Lawandi Datti, also urged youths struggling with unemployment, insecurity, and poor access to education and healthcare to support the party.
