Senate President Senator Godswill Akpabio on Wednesday held talks with the United States Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Richard M. Mills Jr., at the National Assembly in Abuja, focusing on deepening diplomatic and legislative cooperation between the two nations.

Akpabio described the discussions as timely, noting Nigeria and the US share common democratic values and a belief in God. He thanked the ambassador for hosting him during the US 249th Independence Anniversary and highlighted the longstanding collaboration between the two countries.

Ambassador Mills said the visit aimed to engage Nigeria’s Senate leadership on US–Nigeria relations and explore ways to advance shared goals while gaining insight into the Senate’s legislative agenda for 2026.
