Police Warn Against Use of Fireworks in Niger State

The Niger State Police Command has issued a stern warning against the use of fireworks during the Christmas and New Year celebrations, emphasizing that the ban remains in effect.

State Commissioner of Police, Adamu Abdullahi Elleman, assured the public that the police are prepared to respond quickly to any incidents. According to a statement signed by the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abiodun Wasiu, the Commissioner has directed the deployment of adequate personnel and operational resources to ensure a peaceful festive season.

Officers will provide security coverage at public places, including places of worship, recreation centers, amusement parks, motor parks, and highways, before, during, and after the holiday period. The Commissioner also ordered that intelligence-led, high-visibility policing be conducted with respect for human rights, ensuring the safety of travelers and smooth traffic flow.

The police further highlighted proactive measures, such as Operation Flush, township patrols, and raids on crime black spots, to prevent criminal activities and guarantee quick response to emergencies.

Members of the public, particularly Christian faithfuls, are urged to be law-abiding, celebrate responsibly, and support security agencies by providing credible information to help maintain a safe environment
