Bengaluru: Two additional individuals were arrested on Sunday for allegedly posting defamatory and obscene content against Vijayalakshmi, wife of jailed Kannada actor Darshan, police said. The arrests follow a complaint filed by Vijayalakshmi at the Cyber Crime Police Station on December 24, 2025, alleging that several people were targeting her and her family with abusive content on social media platforms.
“Certain individuals were posting vulgar and obscene comments and sending messages against Vijayalakshmi and her family online,” the police said in an official statement. In her complaint, Vijayalakshmi had requested legal action against more than 18 persons who were involved in circulating defamatory content. A case was registered, and an investigation was initiated.
During the initial phase of the probe, two accused had already been arrested for posting obscene messages online. As the investigation continued, police on January 4 took into custody Nagaraj Gullappa Talawar, 23, a petrol bunk manager from Keshavapura in Hubballi, and Prashanth Talawar, 23, an auditor from Yalawal in Dharwad. Both are being questioned in connection with the case.
Authorities said efforts are ongoing to trace and apprehend the remaining individuals involved in spreading defamatory content against Vijayalakshmi and her family.
Darshan, a prominent Kannada actor, is currently in jail in connection with the murder of his fan, Renukaswamy, from Chitradurga. The victim was killed in June 2024, allegedly for posting derogatory content against Darshan’s friend, actress Pavithra Gowda, on social media.
The police have reiterated that legal action will continue against all those involved in posting abusive or obscene content, underscoring the seriousness of online harassment and defamation cases.
