A fire outbreak has destroyed the Police Mobile Force (PMF) Mopol 13 office and its armoury in Makurdi, the Benue State capital.

The incident reportedly occurred in the early hours of Sunday, January 4, 2026.

A video obtained by SaharaReporters shows the Mopol 13 facility completely engulfed in flames, with the offices and armoury reduced to rubble.

As of the time this report was filed, the cause of the fire had not been confirmed. Authorities are yet to determine whether the incident was caused by an electrical fault or any other factor.

In the video, a visibly distressed narrator describes the scale of the destruction, stating that the armoury was entirely burned.

“This is Mopol 13 that burned this morning. This is the armoury—everything is gone,” the voice said.

The narrator also claimed that the Squadron Commander’s office was affected by the inferno, adding that the entire facility suffered extensive damage.

Officials have not yet issued an official statement regarding casualties or the extent of losses recorded.
